1. One design, copied to every lobby
- Agree a single layout first: one rangoli spot, one light line, one diya group. Residents compare towers; identical lobbies avoid the "why does B block look better" thread.
- Photograph each lobby from the entrance and mark where each item goes on the photo. Lobbies in the same community often differ in pillars, lift position and floor colour.
- Keep a smaller version for towers with tight lobbies rather than squeezing in the full layout.
2. Count before you buy
| Per lobby (typical) | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Warm-white string lights, 10 m | 3 strings for the entrance and reception wall |
| Diyas (LED inside, oil only at the entrance if allowed) | About 24 |
| Rangoli colour + 1-2 stencils | 1.5-2 kg for a 4x4 ft design |
| Extension board with switch, cable ties, tape | 1 set |
Multiply by the number of lobbies, then add 10% spare. Buy everything in one order so the colours and light shades match across towers.
3. One volunteer per tower
- Ask in each tower group for one person who can give 90 minutes on the chosen evening. Name them in the main group so nobody assumes someone else is doing it.
- Give each volunteer a bag with their tower's kit and the marked photo. Packing per tower on the clubhouse floor the day before saves most of the confusion.
- One overall coordinator does the walk-through after, tower by tower, and fixes dead light strings on the spot.
4. Gate, deliveries and the facility team
- Most large communities here run a visitor app or a gate register. Pre-approve the delivery so the vendor isn't stuck at security, and tell the guard which gate (many have a separate service gate).
- Ask the facility manager two things early: which lobby sockets are free in the evening, and whether open flames are allowed in common areas.
- Agree with housekeeping not to sweep the rangoli the next morning. It happens every year.
5. Timeline for Diwali 2026 (8 Nov)
- By 20 Oct: committee approves the design and budget in the main group.
- By 27 Oct: order placed, tower volunteers named.
- By 3 Nov: everything delivered, counted, packed per tower, lights tested.
- 5-6 Nov: decoration evening, one tower at a time or all at once with the coordinator walking.
- After Diwali: volunteers bring lights and LED diyas back in the same bags; batteries out before storage. Agree the take-down date now.
6. A message you can paste in the association group
"Diwali lobby plan: same design in every tower (photo attached), ~24 diyas + 3 light strings + rangoli per lobby. Need one volunteer per tower for 90 min on 5 or 6 Nov. Reply with your tower and name. Delivery by 3 Nov, take-down by 15 Nov."
For a single-lobby checklist, see the Diwali lobby decoration checklist. Deciding on flames? LED vs oil diyas. Smaller one-block building? HSR, Koramangala and Bellandur plan. North Bangalore? Hebbal, Yelahanka and Thanisandra plan. South Bangalore? JP Nagar, Bannerghatta Road and Electronic City plan.
